Filipinos are blessed with beautiful coastal waters, not to mention marine life seconding Galapagos Islands, as Jean Jacques Costeau would attest to. And so when I finally made up my mind to learn how to dive, I thought it best to go to Puerto Princesa where the best diving sites can be found.
True enough, my fear of diving became a thing of the past when I started to see the magical world under water in Palawan. My Jaws movie trauma went away and I became an instant conservationist in my own little way.
Snorkeling is as much fun as diving. In Honda Bay, snorkeling is a breeze because the waters are safe and the Palaweño boat guides serve as captain of the boat, tour guide, and lifesaver. Of course you can’t really be cautious enough but if I can’t go diving, I’ll make sure I go snorkeling whenever I find myself in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
